ACCESS STATEMENT AMBERLEA GUESTHOUSE

GENERAL OVERVIEW


This statement gives a general access overview for guest; if there is anything that is not clear, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We hope your stay at Amberlea is as comfortable as possible, so here you will find guidelines to our accessibility, and facilities they may assist you during your stay.

Amberlea is a detached house, built in the early 20th century and not built today’s demanding needs , but we are converting to assist guest where we can.

ASSISTANCE DOGS

We do not take pets as a rule but we are happy to take assistance dogs with prior knowledge. Please supply suitable bedding for your assistance dog.

EMERGENCIES

In 2008 we upgraded our fire alarm system, to maintain our fire standard in fire detection.
All smoke and heat detectors are fitted to all areas of the house, bedrooms, public areas. They are all audible alarms only.

There is fire advice instructions provided in all bedrooms on the reverse of your room door. We can relate these to guests verbally if requested.

MOBILITY ACCESS

1) Access to house.

There are 2 parking spaces to the front of the house, which can be on request reserved for guests with limited mobility. There is additional parking to the rear of the house, which can accessed by car by a service road to the rear of the property, but there is a pedestrian access( this is via 8 long , shallow drop steps) via the side of the house. Which is again illuminated to midnight.
The car park to the front has a tarmac base, which leads on to a small path at the house , going via the grass area there is a small ramp to the main path to the front door, if you stay on the path by the main house there is a small step a drop of approx 5inch.
The paths around the house are illuminated by external lights, which are on a timer going off at around midnight every night.

PORCH

The porch is of a small wooden construction, the first door entrance has a step of 5inches, turn to face the front door, which has another step to enter the main house of 6inches.Floor surface is tiled and can be slippery in the wet.


HALL

The hall is airy and enough room for ease of movement in the hall, this has carpet to the floor.

DINING ROOM

Leads directly from the hall, all tables and chairs are of a universal height.
Part of breakfast is laid out on a sideboard and is self-service, if you require any assistance please ask. We do have a small selection of adapted cutlery and plates if required.

FIRST BEDROOM

This is accessed from the main hall by 3 steps on the main staircase, a small landing. Then a small staircase of 3 steps again to bedroom one (as you go down the steps there is a hand rail to the right).
The bedroom is carpeted, there is a remote controlled television, refreshment tray, and to the side of the bed is a bedside cabinet with bedside lamps and radio alarm.
The bedroom has an en-suite shower room. There is a grab rail to the shower and to the side of the toilet.

The flooring is vinyl. The step up to the shower is no more than 15cms.

STAIRCASE

Flooring is carpet, 10 further steps to a second small landing, with a handrail to the right. A small landing with a 90 degree turn to the left, a further 4 steps to the top. Handrail continues to the right.

FIRST FLOOR BEDROOMS

All bedroom surfaces to the first floor are carpeted, all en-suite bedrooms are vinyl or altro flooring.

All bedrooms have remote controlled televisions, refreshment trays; all rooms have bedside cabinets, which have bedside lamps and alarm clocks.

All rooms are single, double, twin or family. All with personal keys to rooms.

There are steps up to all showers not exceeding 20cms. The en-suite to the twin room has a grab rail to the shower cubicle and next to the toilet.

HEARING IMPAIRED VISITORS

There is a written menu available for breakfast in the dining room. On arrival guests are always escorted to their rooms, and house information is given verbally. All relevant information is displayed on the wall of each bedroom.

SIGHT IMPAIRED VISITORS

All guests are escorted to their rooms and information given verbally, additional lighting is available on request.

OWNER CONTACT

Owners are contactable via the front door bell or whilst in the building there is a bell above the china cabinet in the hall.

MOBILITY SCOOTERS

Scooters can be stored in our garage by prior arrangement, we have an external power point if you wish to recharge electric scooters this is outside and we advise bringing a tarpaulin in case of rain.
